The
EC Foundation is dedicated to promoting Erskine College and Seminary in the manner envisioned by the founding fathers –
as institutions which promote “knowledge joined with morals” and Christian values in a liberal
arts setting.
The EC Foundation was incorporated in April 2010
in response to the significant discord between the General Synod of the ARP Church and the Board of Trustees of the college
and seminary at that time and the resulting uncertainty among alumni. The EC Foundation, a body seeking to support the traditional
Erskine, is a 501-3c corporation maintained and controlled by alumni and friends of the college and seminary.
The ECFoundation is a conduit for designated gifts to the college and/or seminary and also for undesignated
gifts. The Board of Directors aims to make wise and responsible decisions in regard to how any undesignated
funds are spent.
We continue to believe that the best interest
of Erskine College and Seminary would be served by enabling the Board of Trustees to exercise their independent judgment in
fulfillment of their legal, fiduciary, obligation to the College and Seminary . At the same time we recognize
and affirm the historical relationship between Erskine and the ARP denomination and would desire to see a supportive relationship
continue.
The Foundation desires to see a culture at the college
and seminary which is open, supportive, and encouraging, where personal and professional growth is fostered, where spiritual
growth is encouraged, and where faculty, staff and students are treated fairly.
The Foundation is financially responsible and accountable with all assets which are entrusted to it.
We use sound and widely acceptable financial-management practices. Further, the Foundation complies
with and makes every effort to exceed all legal, regulatory and ethical requirements that apply to any supportive involvement
we have now or will develop in the future with this institution we cherish.
